Whilst studying Rebecca also sidelined as a transcriber and worked freelance within the Art Department on numerous short and feature films across the North East of England including the BAFTA-nominated feature ‘I Am Nasrine’, short dramas for RSA Films and Third Films, and two national TV commercials for a government campaign.
London called with a position at the London Film Academy and following that, Rebecca worked as a Script Reader and Development Assistant at Rooks Nest Entertainment, where she was also Production Assistant on Eva Weber’s short film ‘Field Study’. A foray into television then led her to trial positions as Development Researcher and Production Runner for Talkback TV on ‘Celebrity Juice’ and ‘Richard Bacon’s Beer and Pizza Show’.
Across this time Rebecca continued to work on original screenplays and co-written projects and in July 2017 travelled to Malaysia for the premiere of her first feature film as co-writer of ‘Hijabsta Ballet’, directed by Syed Zul Tojo.
Syed is now Rebecca’s agent in Malaysia and they have other projects in development whilst Rebecca continues to work on her own scripts with Suzanne Pradel representing her as agent for the U.K., Europe and U.S.A.
Back in the North East, Rebecca is also now an Associate Lecturer at Northumbria University, teaching screenwriting on the Animation BA (Hons) degree.
